Products available to us

All,

Attached are price lists from BRP. That’ll give everyone an idea as to what are the items we can order. We can also order special produce items that are not on the lists (e.g. hollow greens, etc.) In any case, I hope you can all write a post to this forum to indicate:

1. things you want to stock at home almost always.

2. things you want to have occasionally

Also, keep in mind the prices, especially produce, change all the time and what I find is that these price lists are never accurate.

All, here’s the link to view the spreadsheet.

FYI, for those of you who have not yet signed up for a google account to edit the spreadsheet directly, I can help you do that. Just let me know. Also, if there’s any produce you’re hoping to get for this week (or for future orders), let me know and I’ll gladly put that on the spreadsheet and coordinate.

I’m hoping to get the order in ASAP. Running really low on eggs now.

I’ve also sent you all emails so that you can edit the spreadsheet (it contains a different link). It looks like you can only edit the spreadsheet if you have a gmail account or sign up for a gmail account. If you click on the link that’s contained in your email, it will guide you through the process for getting a google account. For those of you who don’t want one, you can always post to this forum with your order and I’ll update the spreadsheet. If for some reason you’re confused, please email or call me.

Overview

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As you may already know, I am trying to make healther choices for myself and my family. Recently, I felt a very strong need to get Organic produce, cage free eggs, and support local farmers by buying local. I have looked into the cost of buying healthier foods, and to my surprise, some of the prices are even better than the non-organic retail price. For example, this week, a head of organic green leaf lettuce is just $1. A pound of organic strawberries is just $3. There are produce that are not available as organically grown. In those cases, I want to get local whenever possible.

I would like to invite you to split cases of these organic produce with me so that we can all enjoy organic foods at a very reasonable price. Many have already expressed an interest in doing this. In order for me to facilitate this activity, I am leveraging this internet blog to assess what everyone wants on a weekly basis, and thus what we should order.

To start, I need to know what kinds of produce everyone would like to get. Attached is a sample list of what my supplier generally provides. List of Organic Produce
I can also order items that are not listed (e.g. nappa, holy basil, hollow greens, Jerusalem artichokes, etc.) Prices fluctuate every few days. I’ll try to pick up reasonably priced items and post the prices every Monday. I can also get local whole/2% milk (rBST free) at $3.00/gallon. Organic free range eggs at $2.00/dozen. Please submit a comment to the “What I generally want” topic and indicate the items you are interested in.

On a weekly basis, let me know via posting to this blog what items you want for that week. Orders must be placed by 6pm Thursday and they’ll come in on Friday. You must pick up on Friday. Bring your own baskets, bags, egg cartons.

I’m sure we’ll have kinks to work out before this becomes smooth. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. If you don’t already know my personal email/phone#, you can email to localorganic@gmail.com
